Fabiola was waiting for us at our apartment from Apartments BA. After much research, we decided to rent an apartment for the trip over staying at a hotel. We wanted to live like the locals, plus we saved a ton of money. (Hence the pretend portenos.) Here’s what our temporary home looks like when you wake up in the morning…I think we could sit on the balcony and watch the portenos walk below all day long…

After a quick clean up (we felt surprisingly well-rested), we set out for a highly recommended parilla—an Argentinean barbecue joint called La Cabrera.

Despite some initial confusion (Is there a bar? Isn’t there a bar?), we were seated and it was time for the overconsumption to commence.

Two bottles of Malbec (Festivo and Nieto Senetiner), four large medallions of thyme-marinated filet mignon and a smorgasbord of sides later, we were officially sold on the Argentinean diet.

Not to mention proud of our ability to do as the locals do and eat late—seated 11 p.m. and home by 2 a.m. On a Monday.
